After two failed comeback attempts, Kajol got a third chance when hubby Ajay Devgn bought the rights of the 2014 Malayalam hit ‘How Old Are You’.
The actress who has been on a break since the birth of the couple’s son, Yug, in 2010, was to topline the cast of its Hindi remake.
According to a report, the hitch is that Ajay wants a Bollywood director to helm the project, while the director of the original, Rosshan Andrrews has a clause in the contract with the film’s producer Listin Stephen, which gives him the ‘first right’ to direct its remakes.
Andrrews even met Ajay and they discussed this issue before he flew off to Canada last week, the report said.
Gossip has it that Ajay wants Ashwini Dheer, who directed ‘Son Of Sardaar’, to wield the megaphone, and so now there’s a rift. It’s doubtful that Kajol will be in this film now.
Earlier, Kajol was set to return to the big screen with a film which was an Indian adaptation of the Dutch TV series Penoza.
Prior to that, the actress had considered Rensil D’Silva’s 27-episode fiction show, which revolved around a single mother living in a joint family in Delhi. But the actress demanded too high a premium, which the channel wasn’t willing to cough up.
