Mo Amer and Guz Khan are two of the hottest names in comedy right now and they’re on tour in Britain in their first-ever joint tour starting at London’s prestigious Leicester Square Theatre. They also have a date lined-up to perform in Leeds.
Following a huge online following in the wake of videos including his ‘Pakisaurus’ YouTube skit, which has several million views, Guz Khan has teamed up with US comedian Mo Amer for a nine-city tour across the UK.
Both are original voices who have risen through the ranks in recent years.
Guz Khan, an actor, writer and stand-up comedian is also the creator, co-writer and star of ‘Man Like Mobeen’, one of the BBC’s most successful new comedy series which returns to our screens for series 2 in early 2019.
‘Man Like Mobeen’ scooped three RTS Midlands Awards in November, and was nominated for a Broadcast Digital Award.
Khan was recently announced as part of the cast for the Hulu remake of Four Weddings and a Funeral, and will soon star alongside Idris Elba in Turn Up Charlie for Netflix and as a regular in Sky drama ‘Curfew’, all of which will release in 2019.
Other notable credits include two series of ‘Borderline’ for Channel 5, ‘Zapped’ (Dave), ‘Drunk History’ (Comedy Central), ‘Dropperz’ (ITV2) and the feature film ‘Walk Like a Panther’.
He also wrote and starred in Sky’s ‘Halloween Short Fright Busters’. He made his debut on BBC’s ‘Live at the Apollo in 2017’.
Mo Amer is an Arab American stand up comedian and writer of Palestinian descent. Amer recently debuted his first stand up special for Netflix, ‘The Vagabond’. He has performed in well over two dozen countries on five continents, and is the first and only Arab American refugee comic to perform for US and coalition troops overseas.
He’s somewhat a pioneer of Arab-American stand up, and in his shows tells his unusual, circuitous life story – detailing how he managed to travel the world without a passport for years before finally becoming a US citizen after two decades; had an American soldier pull a weapon on him (at a military show) in Iraq; and once had Bradley Cooper (unintentionally) rescue him in the Middle East.
Amer’s sold out shows worldwide include performances at the Royal Albert Hall and Hammersmith Apollo (London), Acer Arena (Sydney), Nelson Mandela Theatre (Johannesburg), and Shrine Auditorium (Los Angeles).
He has toured extensively with Chappelle, performing over 600 shows with the stand-up legend, including at his historic run at the Radio City Music Hall where he shared the stage with Jon Stewart, Chance The Rapper, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Childish Gambino (Donald Glover), Trevor Noah, Hannibal Buress and Ali Wong.
His television credits include ‘@midnight’ (Comedy Central), ‘Comedy Knockout’ (TRU TV) and ‘Crashing’ (HBO). He has also appeared on Bassem Youssef’s historic show ‘AlBernameg’.
Last year, Amer made his late night debut on CBS’s Late Night with Stephen Colbert and Rolling Stone named him among its “10 Comedians You Need To Know”. He will appear as a series regular on the Hulu original series ‘Ramy’ (co starring with Ramy Youssef) in 2019.
Born in Kuwait, Amer fled to the United States as a refugee in 1990 and finally obtained his U.S. citizenship in 2009. He currently splits his time between New York City and his hometown of Houston, Texas.
