Is your child aged 11-16 and passionate about Bharatanatyam or Kathak style dancing?
Auditions are to be held to join Yuva Gati, the national South Asian dance strand of the Centre for Advanced Training for boys and girls with exceptional talent and potential.
DanceXchange Birmingham’s programme aims to nurture and develop dancers to prepare them for professional training and future careers in South Asian dance.
Yuva Gati graduate Vidya Patel was a contestant on BBC Young Dancer and South Asian category final winner in 2015, she now works as a professional dancer nationally.
‘Being part of the CAT scheme at DanceXchange in Birmingham has been very influential to my performance experience. I successfully entered the South Asian Category of BBC Young Dancer and reaching the Grand Final opened a lot of doors professionally’.
Yuva Gati is delivered by DanceXchange in partnership with Sampad (South Asian Music and Dance). Auditions will take place at Birmingham Hippodrome on Saturday 6th July.
The scheme is funded by the Department of Education and help with fees may be available.
The programme is delivered through training sessions held within the school holidays and weekly classes with home tutors during term time.
Yuva Gati tutors include Leicester’s rising dance star Aakash Odedra, Shane Shambhu, Mira Balchandran Gokul and Sonia Sabri.
Auditions for the September intake are on Saturday 6 July at DanceXchange, Birmingham.
