Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is helping local businesses benefit from a new trade agreement signed by the UK and Turkey, which came into force in January 2021.

Under the agreement, goods can continue to benefit from reduced or 0% tariff preferences if they originate from either the UK or Turkey. For goods which do not originate from the two countries, duty rates might also be reduced due to the changes in the UK’s Most Favoured Nation tariff schedule.

To build on this opportunity for UK businesses, Greater Manchester Chamber, in partnership with the Turkish Electrical and Electronics Exporters’ Association, is hosting a Grow your Supply Chain event on 4th April.

The event will consist of a series of 1-2-1 meetings between Turkish suppliers in the Electrical and Electronic sectors and British counterparts, either buyers, importers, wholesalers, retailers, or contractors looking to expand their supply chain to Turkey.

Eighteen Turkish suppliers will visit Manchester and meet UK businesses. The delegation will represent sub-sectors including lighting fixtures, home appliances, industrial products, electronics and energy/energy related products. You can check out the detailed companies’ profiles here.

Recognised as a manufacturing hub, Turkey’s position on the global supply chain allows importers around the world to benefit from high-end products and expert skills when working with Turkish suppliers. Turkey is a key partner for British manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers and the current trade agreement is a major advantage to help them diversify their supply chains to Turkey.

The registration for the event in Manchester is free. For more info please visit https://www.gmchamber.co.uk/events/grow-your-global-supply-chain-meet-turkish-suppliers-april-2022/
