1. What can you tell us about the film?
Money Back Guarantee is the story of a group of people coming together despite their cultural and ethnic differences to steal back money stolen from them by corrupt organizations and money-hungry authority figures. Though it is set in a fictional third-world country, it celebrates the rich cultural and ethnic diversity that Pakistan has to offer.
2. From a producer’s point of view, what are the parameters which you see while deciding why to produce a certain film?
When a brilliant writer approaches you with an equally brilliant concept, you don’t stop to consider parameters- you simply seize the opportunity that is right in front of you. That being said, there were a lot of factors that I had to figure out as a producer like casting, scheduling, and financing to list a few, but all of that was facilitated by my team and with the help of Faisal Qureshi. We were able to wrap up production in 40 days while simultaneously recording the soundtrack.
3. What was it like working with industry bigwigs like Jawad Sheikh, Fawad Khan, etc?
Honestly, sharing the screen with each and every actor in the cast was a dream come true. The fact that I had the privilege of working with and learning from some of the greatest talents in Pakistan was a humbling experience. As a producer, I really appreciated Fawad’s dedication to his work and his vast global following. Jawad Sheikh on the other hand is one of my favorite actors of all time, enough said.
4. Where did the idea for the film come from?
From the mind of Faisal Qureshi! I believe the inspiration behind the movie is the conditions under which people from developing counties live, where poverty divides are severe and financial security is non-existent. Here, people in power partake in distraction politics and attempt to divide us by highlighting our differences so we stay oppressed. This movie aims to show the strength of unity and overcoming our differences.
5. Can you share a challenge that you faced while shooting for the film?
I have to say that filming for this movie flew by without a hitch. We were fortunate to have a very talented and professional crew who worked tirelessly to help us finish filming in 40 days. But as soon as we hit the post-production phase, we were confronted by a global pandemic that derailed our plans for the release. As stressful as that time was, I’m glad that people will finally have the opportunity to finally see Money Back Guarantee in theaters all over the world very soon!
