Yorkshire’s prestigious Sekhon Group urges more Asian-owned businesses to follow its lead and support Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, which helps families that have lost a child.
Forget Me Not provides to families devastated by the loss of their baby or child – 50% of whom are from the South Asian community
Bradford-based property development and investment firm, The Sekhon Group, has become the first Asian-owned business, involving nine of their companies, to join Forget Me Not’s 99er Business Club and is encouraging other organisations to do the same.
Mr Simmy Sekhon, CEO of The Sekhon Group, said: “When I heard about the amazing care and help that Forget Me Not provides to families devastated by the loss of their baby or child – 50% of whom are from the South Asian community – it was an easy decision to make to support the charity with its vital work.
“We’re proud to be the first Asian-owned business to be part of Forget Me Not’s 99er Business Club, but we certainly don’t want to be the last! I hope that our support for this deserving cause will encourage others from our community to help Forget Me Not with their fantastic work.”
Alison Parker, Philanthropy Manager at Forget Me Not, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Sekhon Group as the latest members of our 99er business club.
“Having made a generous donation to our Every Minute Matters campaign in October last year, The Sekhon Group are already making a real difference to the families we support and we’re excited about working with them in the future.
“Their help in encouraging more Asian-owned businesses to get involved is particularly welcome, because while around half of the families we support are from a South Asian background, our work is not well-known in this community.
“The more organisations supporting and helping to promote our work, the more children and families will get the support they so desperately need, when they need it the most.”
Forget Me Not’s 99er Business Club is for businesses who want an easy way to make new, meaningful connections, generate positive PR and fulfil their corporate social responsibility, from just £9.99 a month (introductory offer for the first year then £30 per month).
The 99er Business Club is just one way organisations can support the charity which cares for families facing or living with the loss of their child across West Yorkshire. For more details, businesses can contact fundraising@forgetmenotchild.co.uk
