GCSE students at The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) are celebrating outstanding results.
Among the success stories were Anoushka Dasgupta from Adel, Youjia Bi from Horsforth and Abdul Rehman Akhtar from Roundhay, who were among six students at GSAL who achieved 10 grade 9s. Twins Tatiana and Onella Nicholas, also from Roundhay, picked up matching grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, History, Latin, Religious Studies and Science.
And twins Imaan and Aleeza Effendi, also from Roundhay, had plenty to celebrate, with them both achieving excellent grades. Imaan is a notable cricketer who was recently selected to play for the England U17 Indoor Cricket World Series in Dubai.
GSAL’s GCSE Class of 23 included five sets of twins, two Bradford City academy footballers, an Olympic swim team hopeful, two members of the City of Leeds Youth Orchestra and a rising golf star. It has been an excellent year for results at GSAL, with 70% of all entries awarded the top grades of 7, 8 or 9 (A/A*), and more than half given grade 8 or above.
“We are delighted with these extraordinary results – they’re testimony to the hard work of our students, their families and our staff,” said Sue Woodroofe, Principal at GSAL.
“I’m extremely proud of what they’ve achieved academically, and even more proud of the wonderful young people they are becoming.”
