A determined group of 30 trekkers successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in under 12 hours, raising critical funds for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA).
The event, which took place on Saturday 17th August was organised to support the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, a beacon of hope for cancer patients in Pakistan.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is renowned for its difficulty, covering 24 miles and scaling three of the highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.
Undergoing this challenge in less than 12 hours is an extraordinary feat, reflecting the participants’ commitment and stamina.
“Completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks is an achievement in itself but doing so in under 12 hours is a remarkable testament to the dedication of these individuals,” said Shafiq Rafiq, spokesperson for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA).
“Each step taken by these trekkers symbolises a step forward in our mission to save lives at Shaukat Khanum Hospital. Their efforts will directly contribute to providing essential cancer care to those who need it most.”
The participants, hailing from various backgrounds, were united by a shared purpose: to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Their collective efforts have raised significant funds, which will be used to support the hospital’s ongoing mission to offer free cancer treatment, cutting-edge research, and comprehensive support services to patients, regardless of their financial means.
The Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) continues to champion the cause of cancer care in Pakistan, with events like the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge playing a crucial role in raising awareness and much-needed funds. The success of this event underscores the power of community and the impact of every contribution, no matter how large or small.
