In a heartfelt celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, the Nazim Ali Foundation hosted its second annual ‘Mawlid in the City’ initiative, spreading joy and kindness throughout the community.

On the 12th of Rabbi Ul Awwal, which marks the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the foundation organised various charitable activities, including the 11th Annual ‘Creating Smiles Gifts Initiative.’

This year, over 30 gifts were distributed to children in need, alongside roses for the dedicated nursing staff at Airedale Hospital’s Children Ward 17.

The foundation served 183 three-course meals at its weekly Khidma Community Kitchen in Manningham, reaching out to the homeless and vulnerable. In just six months, nearly 5,000 meals have been provided to those in need.

As part of the celebration, 110 roses were handed out in Keighley Town Centre, promoting peace, love, and harmony. Many community members expressed their gratitude, with emotional responses highlighting the positive impact of these gestures.

Nazim Ali, founder of the initiative, dedicated the celebrations to the memory of his late father and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), emphasising the importance of kindness and compassion. “These values bring us together, regardless of faith,” he stated.

The foundation also delivered over 30 gifts to poorly children at Airedale Hospital, including cuddly toys and play sets, aimed at uplifting the spirits of young patients. Ali reflected on his own childhood experiences in hospitals, expressing a deep empathy for the children and their families.

Support from local businesses has been instrumental. Shiraz and Fairaz Ahmed of Saveco Cash & Carry have been long-time sponsors of the initiative, furthering their commitment to community welfare.

Karen Reece, Play Leader at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, expressed gratitude for the foundation’s continued support, noting how the toys always bring cheer to the children.

With nearly £975,000 raised for charity over 27-years, the Nazim Ali Foundation remains committed to fostering community spirit and helping those in need, embodying the teachings of compassion and service to others.
