Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust (KORT) hosted its annual MusKORTeer dinner on 1st February at The Maddison, Bradford. The event was a heartfelt thank-you to the charity’s dedicated volunteers for their unwavering support throughout 2024.
MusKORTeers from across the country gathered for an evening of fun, delicious food, and essential updates on KORT’s ongoing and upcoming projects.
The evening began with a captivating performance by local Qawali singers Zahir Abbas and group, followed by heartwarming nasheeds from KORT’s own Naseeb Abbas. The musical performance and nasheeds set a joyous tone for the event.
At the annual dinner event, KORT chairman and founder Ch Mohammed Akhtar presented KORT’s achievements in 2024 and highlighted progress on key projects:
- Housing & Sewing Machine Programme for Widows in AJK
- Distribution of Flood Houses in Baluchistan
- Washroom Facilities for the Disabled and Wheelchair Distribution
- Upcoming £32 million KORT Hospital Project
Ch Mohammed Akhtar emphasised how each project positively impacts beneficiaries and expressed gratitude to the musKORTeers for their vital role in transforming the lives of the poor, needy, and underprivileged.
Key musKORTeers and business partners from various cities across England were honoured with annual awards. The MusKORTeer of the Year award was shared by two outstanding individuals: Ajmal Ali from High Wycombe and Aves Hussain from Rotherham.
A special award was presented to Mrs. Barbra Lawry and Mr. Kevin Lawry from Harlaxton, Nottinghamshire, who were the first donors to support KORT in 2005 following a catastrophic earthquake in Pakistan.
The evening concluded with a delectable three-course dinner provided by Pak Catering, Bradford.
