Leicester Square lit up on Thursday, 13th February as the highly anticipated World Premiere of Mickey 17 left Londoners starstruck. The sci-fi epic, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, marks his first feature since the historic success of Parasite.

Walking the red carpet were the film’s stellar cast, including Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette, alongside writer-director Bong Jo Ho. Also in attendance were producers Dooho Choi, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dede Gardner, as well as French-Romanian actress Anamaria Vartolomei.

In Mickey 17, Pattinson takes on the role of Mickey Barnes, a space colonist known as an “expendable.” Tasked with the colony’s most perilous jobs, expendables frequently die in the process—only to be resurrected through human printing technology. As Mickey begins to question his existence and purpose, he unravels a mystery that challenges the very fabric of his reality.

Speaking on the red carpet, Robert Pattinson expressed his admiration for Bong, stating, “Bong is one of the directors I just wanted to work with my entire career. I saw Memories of Murder when I was a teenager, and he was just one of my bucket list directors. And he was absolutely incredible.”

With an all-star cast and Bong Joon Ho’s visionary storytelling, Mickey 17 is set to be one of the most talked-about films of the year, delivering an exhilarating and thought-provoking cinematic experience.

Mickey 17 will be released in the UK on 7th March 2025 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
