Distributed by Vertigo Releasing, the highly anticipated coming-of-age drama Last Swim, written and directed by British Iranian filmmaker, Sasha Nathwani, will be releasing in UK cinemas on 4th April 2025.
The film stars Deba Hekmat (We Were Meant to Be) as Ziba, Narges Rashidi (The Night), Denzel Baidoo (The First Purge), Solly McLeod (A Christmas Carol), Lydia Fleming (The Lost Daughter), Jay Lycurgo (Heartstopper), and Michelle Greenidge (The Woman in the Window).
Set over a sweltering A-Level results day in London, Last Swim follows Ziba, a promising British-Iranian teen, as she leads her friends on an eventful journey across the city, culminating in a once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event. Despite the celebratory atmosphere, Ziba struggles to retain her characteristic optimism as she finds herself battling the intrusive fears and secrets she’s been hiding from her friends. As day turns to night, Ziba has no choice but to confront the irreversible event she has planned for the end of this last day of untainted adolescence.
Marking his feature directorial debut, Sasha Nathwani is an emerging British-Iranian filmmaker known for his visually striking storytelling. His previous work includes the award-winning short Raj’s Story and the global New Balance campaign Impatience Is A Virtue, starring Jaden Smith. His music video work has earned two Brit Award nominations and over a billion YouTube views. Nathwani is known for his works to explore identity, youth culture, and human connection.
