Neighbourhood teams across Birmingham have had a busy week tackling crime, recovering vehicles, and making arrests – but found time to chat with young people about the work they’re doing.
Officers from the Sutton Coldfield team, working with the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership, met with around 60 Year 5 students at a local school.
They were teaching them about the dangers of knife crime, using the latest Virtual Reality technology – which one student described as “amazing”.
The team also met with some much younger people, as part of a show-and-tell at a local nursery. Some of the children even got to try on some police uniform and set the sirens off in our police van.
And from nursery to university, officers from the Selly Oak team have been out with community safety wardens based at the University of Birmingham to speak to students about how to stay safe.
Over in Kings Heath, officers dropped into the All Saints Youth Project to chat about upcoming events and how officers can work in partnership with them.
All of this as our neighbourhood officers work tirelessly across the city on the issues we know matter to local residents.
Sparkbrook officers helped locate and recover a stolen car, while officers in Billesley located a stolen motorbike.
Officers have also carried out road safety operations in Hall Green and Yardley, seizing several vehicles for things like no tax and insurance.
